travel reading

As a complete bookworm, I have found that my preference in genres has gone through phases over the years.  As I’ve realized my passion for travel, my book interests have correlated with that passion.  Even within the “Travel” genre however, there are many sub-genres and topics, and I am trying to cover them all, even though I currently seem to be stuck on those that center around the basic idea of quitting your job and all responsibilities and moving to a dream location and going through some amazing life experience and all your problems melt away.  Sound familiar?  Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert comes to mind, as does Wild by Cheryl Strayed.  Now I’ve read these books.  I’ve seen the movies.  I know there’s a lot more to it than that, but you get the gist of it.

Read below to see my list of travel books, what I recommend (or don’t recommend), and some short reviews or suggestions.  As always, please leave your suggestions for me so maybe I can branch out of my sub-genre comfort zone and try something new!
